The real question is, in a market flooded with hordes of "Just as good" and "Mil Spec" AR patterned rifles, what makes the Knights Armament Company SR-15 Mod 2 rifle worth $2,000 more than the plethora of rifles available to the consumer today? Well let's take a look and see what justified it to me.
Last year I had another visit from the good idea fairy. I was watching my coworkers purchase Daniel Defense, Colt, and LMT AR's and thought that I have never purchased a factory assembled 5.56 AR style rifle. As with most of the good ideas that I get from the good idea fairy, this one ended up costing me quite a bit of money.

Not a day goes by at work where someone comes in asking about the 6.5 Creedmoor. Often times that leads to people asking what is better? 6.5 Creedmoor or .308? After over five years of doing this (and losing more and more of my soul with every day of doing this), I have come up with a definitive list of reasons why you should choose the .308 over 6.5 Creedmoor.
Everywhere you look in the gun world nowadays, everything is listed as custom. The term has been thrown out so much that it has lost its meaning. What is Custom? Custom
Not custom
EZ What good is a rifle without a scope? Of course, there will always be people out there that say you should shoot with iron sights, and iron sights will never break like optics will. But using iron sights only is like banging hookers with a condom, it is way better, and much more of an adventure without.
Since the name of my website is "random gun stuff" I figured I should post more random gun stuff. At my work I see quite the variety of cool guns. This is one of my all time favorites that came in two years ago, an Enfield No.4 Sniper.
I will let the pictures do the talking. Moderation has never been exactly my thing. With most things in life, I either go full throttle, or I do not start the car. It is one of the 4.2 million reasons why I quit drinking. One beer would turn into someone saying "Who are you, where are your pants, and why are you in my house?".
So needless to say when I decided to buy a modern semi auto 7.62 rifle, that and being an H&K whore, drove me to purchasing the H&K MR762A1. So I decided I wanted to use an EOTech with a magnifier on my AUG. I noticed that the charging handle was a bit difficult to operate with the EOTech but figured it would be fine. After gettinf the EOTech zeroed and doing some shooting with it, the rifle went click. Yanked on the charging handle with my left hand, and nothing. I went to yank on it with my right hand, and it came back. And I promptly deposited some flesh on the thumbscrew of the EOTech. Once I used the first aid kit in my range bag for the first time, I carefully locked the bolt back to see what happened. Apparently a loose primer pocket on some reloads caused the primer to pop out while the round was chambering. This caused the primer to deposit in the barrel extension and keep the bolt from going into battery. As I always say, learning what not to do is part of the learning process. Now time to shitcan all of the PSD brass, which I have noticed has loose primer pockets.
EZ One cool thing about working at a gun store is getting to see the new guns to market and checking them out. Here, we will take a look at the new Savage MSR Patrol and Recon. First up is the MSR Patrol. I also stripped it down to show some of the technical aspects of it. Here is the quick and dirty.
All too often in gun forums, and in the gun shop I work, I encounter and listen to what I would call Gear Queers, Wet Dreams, and Porcelain Dolls. After my last few trips to the range, while I judged the shit out of people, this idea has been kicking around in my head. Due to the help of GAT Nitraflex while I was at the gym tonight, I think it may finally be a cognitive workable idea. So let's see if any of this shit makes sense.
After working in the gun industry for the past three years, I have seen quite a few things to say the least. Some makes me laugh, some of it makes me want to cry, and some of it enrages me.
One of the things I hear all the time is along the lines of “My brothers friends cousins aunts gardener has four of these, and they are all in better condition!”. It doesn’t matter what it is, it could be a brand new in box gun, or something beyond rare, but no matter what the gun is, they always have one, and it is always better. Only once in my three years of working at a gun shop have I heard a customer say that they have the same gun that we do, but only theirs is in worse condition. I would hedge my bets on it being 98% bullshit, but it is one of the amusing things that you just roll your eyes at after seeing it every single day, multiple times. EZ |
