AUG A3 Update: The Neu-Trigger

So after the last trip out with the AUG, I definitely knew I had to do something about the trigger. To date, that was my biggest complaint about the rifle. After a bit of research I ordered the New-Trigger for it.

I had read about a few cheap fixes for the AUG trigger, one of them being drowning the trigger pack with graphite. This smoothed out the trigger quite a bit. After shooting it for a bit, just like the dude in the trenchcoat at the bar, the creep came back. On a few different forums I had read positive reviews about the Neu-Trigger, so I looked it up myself.

The website claimed that for only $28, I could buy a drop in part that would reduce the trigger pull by a few pounds and make it smooth. I figured what the hell, I have spent way more on way dumber things. I sent off my money order for $28 last week and had the Neu-Trigger waiting in the mail for me today.

Before

Before I installed it, I decided to take a measurement of the stock trigger pull weight. In my initial report it was 8 pounds 10 ounces. Now that I have some rounds through the gun, for some reason it is reading at 10 pounds 3.5 ounces. Not sure why there was a change, it could be that I was initially measuring it inconsistently. To make sure, I did a few more measurements, and sure enough, it kept coming in slightly over 10 pounds.

Installation

Installation is straightforward and extremely easy. If you are reading this, and can field strip your AUG, you can install it. When you purchase the Neu-Trigger you receive a link to a video for installation instructions. When you receive the Neu-Trigger instructions are printed on the back of the business card. Total installation time including pulling the trigger pack out of the stock, and reassembling the AUG was less than two minutes. The device is very simple and intuitive. I have no doubts that it will be reliable and cause no harm to the AUG due to the simplicity of it.

After

When I first pulled the trigger after assembling the AUG, I did not think I had charged the weapon. This simple $28 device eliminated ALL of the problems I had with the trigger. The trigger now is smooth as silk, with absolutely ZERO creep whatsoever. The best way that I could describe it would be it is similar to a very good trigger job on a Smith and Wesson Revolver along with lighter springs. How did it change the trigger pull weight? Impressions

This thing is awesome for the price. I honestly could not ask for more out of the AUG trigger after installing the Neu-Trigger. I now have no doubts that I will be able to wack squirrels and whatever I am aiming at with much less effort than before. The trigger is now silky smooth with no creep. I have no doubt that this will greatly improve my accuracy of the AUG by eliminating the creepiness of the trigger, allowing me to be able to control the trigger much better when I am going for accuracy.

If you own an AUG, you would be doing yourself a diservice by not purchasing a Neu-Trigger. It is not often that I am impressed by little gizmos that allegedly improve performance, but this is one that quite frankly blew up my kilt with how well it works.

They also make one for the FS2000, so if you have one of those it would be a good bet to help the trigger pull of the Tactical Tuna as well. For less than the cost of taking a woman out on the date, you can get rid of the creep from your trigger. As for getting rid of the creepiness on a date though....well, that is a whole other story.

Yep. I just ordered mine even though the trigger is not that bad--definitely a bit different than my AR, but that was a Geisele SSA. It's way better than the Tavor I tried (I thought the safety was on).
A lot of people combine the Nue-trigger with the K&M Lightning. A person and AUG-guy whom I trust, said the Lightning reduced hammer tension, but when I emailed the inventor, he said it didn't. I dunno.
I'm just trying to justify NOT getting the Ratworx HTM Hybrid trigger pack that uses AR parts and evidently really smooths out and makes charging way lighter/easier--not that it's bad (it is kinda gritty and heavy actually). At $260, I'm really hoping the Neu will do it for me--though I do like the parts compatibility factor of the HTM. Ugh. I'll probably end up with one if they're not sold out before they get them in stock.

You can test the affects of the Lightening, Trigger Tamer, etc. by doing a butt stock drop test. *The trigger spring doubles as the hammer spring. Start the test with the stock setup and drop the rifle straight down onto its butt, onto carpeted floor so you don't damage the finish. Start at 6" and work your way up until the hammer releases. Then repeat with each modification you plan to employ. On the softest settings you will find that you can bump the stock with your hand and the hammer will drop.
Satey first. Remember this, the feds don' t care why your gun double fired, only that it did. You now own an automatic firearm without a licence, with mandatory minimum jail time.

Correction: I misspoke. The trigger spring doubles as the sear spring. The sear is what restrains the hammer in the cocked position until you pull the trigger. The hammer spring is unaffacted, as it controls the force transferred to the primer.
