Why? To be honest, for the last year I have been rather burnt out on guns, and the gun community.
The burn out
I lost nearly all interest in guns around May of 2021, and I did not even shoot for 3-4 months after that. Being known as the "gun guy" to most of your friends did not help, as people tended to treat me like a God: They would ignore my existence unless they needed something. And the endless cycle of people asking my advice and then promptly ignoring it, then asking why the Dogshit-9000 that they bought against my advice did not help me to take a break from the burn out.
The COVID panic and resulting scare in the industry was just tiring. People buying up absolutely anything and everything out of fear, and not wanting to shoot due to the inability to replace components that I am using definitely added to my inactivity in what used to be my main hobby.
While taking a break from firearms, I reconnected with another long past time of mine, exploring and adventuring in ghost towns and old mine shafts. My wife's willingness to go along with me and do this more often than if I wanted to go shoot, combined with my new schedule being much better and conducive to adventuring with her definitely helped me do this more often. Even with this, I still went on about half of my adventures alone, which is not the smartest thing, but I am 5/4ths retarded after all.
I still would go out on my adventures with a rifle and pistol, and carry them with me while I would hike around, but I would go on a dozen trips and not shoot. I am now finally starting to get back into guns, but on a very strict scope compared to how I used to be. I am very specific on what I like, and I honestly do not really care about most of the stuff out there, and have been avoiding giving advice to those who are just askholes and will not follow it anyways.
This being said, now I finally feel like writing again. To break up the monotony, I will be writing about my adventures and posting them up, along with gun content, since they are something I have greatly enjoyed.
Now, I am not going to promise how often I will put out content, as it is one of those things I will do when I feel like it, but by posting this I have already matched the amount of content that I put out last year alone. And that is pretty decent in my book.
